Industrial pipe flanges create bolted joints between pipe, valves and equipment. Buyers specify flange type, NPS/size, pressure class, facing, bore (especially for weld-neck), material grade, applicable material and dimensional standards, quantity and documentation. ASME B16.5 covers many pipe flanges within its size scope; ASME B16.47 applies to large-diameter flanges where that standard is named. Material specification is separate from dimensional practice.
