What is ASTM A815?
ASTM A815 is the specification for wrought ferritic, ferritic/austenitic (duplex) and martensitic stainless steel pipe fittings. Duplex buttweld fittings are ordered to it — WPS31803 / WPS32205 for 2205 and WPS32750 / WPS32760 for super duplex — with dimensions to ASME B16.9. Austenitic fittings are ASTM A403 instead. ASME adopts it as SA-815.

ASTM A815 — questions buyers ask
What is ASTM A815?
ASTM A815 is the specification for wrought ferritic, ferritic/austenitic (duplex) and martensitic stainless steel pipe fittings. Duplex buttweld fittings are ordered to it — WPS31803 / WPS32205 for 2205 and WPS32750 / WPS32760 for super duplex — with dimensions to ASME B16.9. Austenitic fittings are ASTM A403 instead. ASME adopts it as SA-815.
Which standard covers duplex 2205 fittings?
ASTM A815, grade WPS31803 or WPS32205 (often dual certified).
Is A403 used for duplex fittings?
No — A403 is austenitic only. Duplex fittings are A815.
Which grades do you supply to ASTM A815?
Duplex 2205, Super Duplex 2507, Super Duplex S32760 — see the table on this page for the exact product and designation.
What is the difference between ASTM A815 and ASME SA-815?
ASME SA-815 is the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (Section II) adoption of ASTM A815. The technical requirements are usually identical to a specific ASTM edition; pressure-equipment codes call for the ASME designation, and most mill certificates show both.
What is the current edition of ASTM A815?
The publisher's listing checked on 7 October 2026 shows A815/A815M-26 as the current edition. The edition that governs an order is the one named in the purchase order or design code. Full-text review of the current edition is in progress, so numerical requirements are not published on this page yet.
Do you supply certificates to this standard?
Yes. Material is supplied with mill test certificates to EN 10204 3.1 showing the standard, grade and heat number; 3.2 with third-party inspection on request.
