Industries we supply
Each industry has its own combination of corrosion, temperature, pressure and paperwork. These are the grades and products each one buys from us most.
Industry × Material Map
Which material families each industry buys from us, and the grades behind each dot. Use it as a starting point: the medium, temperature and design code decide the final grade.

Oil & gas
Upstream and midstream lines carry chlorides, CO₂ and H₂S together. Material has to meet NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 as well as the pressure design, so the grade, its heat treatment and its hardness all matter.
Refining & petrochemical
Refineries combine high temperature, hydrogen and sulphur compounds. Stabilised stainless (321, 347), chrome-moly (P11, P22) and nickel alloys each have their place in heaters, hydroprocessing units and exchangers.
Chemical process
Acid service decides the alloy: 316L for mild duty, 904L and 825 for sulphuric and phosphoric acid, and C276 or C22 when mixed acids, chlorides and oxidisers meet.
Fertiliser
Phosphoric-acid and sulphuric-acid plants are where 904L and Alloy 825 earn their price — in reactors, evaporators, acid coolers and the piping between them.
Mining & metallurgy
Copper and gold hydrometallurgy — leaching, solvent extraction and electrowinning — handles sulphuric acid, chlorides and abrasive slurries. 316L, 904L, duplex and super duplex are the usual grades, with super duplex for the seawater that many mines now desalinate and pump inland.
Desalination & seawater
Seawater pits and crevice-corrodes ordinary stainless. Duplex 2205, super duplex 2507 and S32760, and nickel alloys handle brine, intake and high-pressure reverse-osmosis lines.
Power & pollution control
Boilers, superheaters and flue-gas desulphurisation need heat-resisting and acid-resisting grades: 310S, 321, 347, P22, Alloy 800 and 825.
Pharmaceutical
Clean, polished, traceable material for vessels and process piping — 316L above all, with 904L and C276 where the chemistry is aggressive.
Food & dairy
Hygienic 304 and 316L sheet, tube and fittings with the right surface finish for cleaning in place.
Water treatment
Treatment plants use 304 and 316L for pipework and structures, and duplex where chlorides run high.
Marine & shipbuilding
Seawater systems, chemical tankers and deck hardware use 316L, duplex, Monel 400 and K500 — including bolting that must not seize or crack.
Construction & structures
Structural plate, sheet and hollow sections in S275JR, S355J2+N and IS 2062, and stainless for exposed architectural work.
Defence & aerospace
High-strength nickel alloys such as 718 and 625, and stabilised stainless for exhaust and high-temperature parts.
Industries — questions buyers ask
Which stainless steel is used in oil and gas?
316L for general process lines, duplex 2205 and super duplex 2507 where chlorides and strength matter, and nickel alloys such as 825 and 625 for sour or highly corrosive service — usually with NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 compliance.
Which material is used for sulphuric and phosphoric acid in fertiliser plants?
904L and Alloy 825 are the usual choices for dilute and mid-strength sulphuric and phosphoric acid; Hastelloy C276 where chlorides and mixed acids make conditions worse.
Which grades are used in desalination?
Super duplex 2507 for high-pressure seawater and brine, duplex 2205 and 904L in less aggressive streams, and 625 for critical seawater parts.
